The History of the
19th Hole
We may think that a refreshment cart is a modern idea however; the origin of the cart was innovated over 125 years ago.
The history of the "19th Hole" began at St Andrews at the Old Course.

David Anderson (1821-1901) was a senior caddy at St Andrews and Keeper of the Green from 1840-1856. When he retired in 1856, he had the inspired idea to offer golfers refreshments on the course.
Using a wheel barrow from maintenance, Mr. Anderson created what he called a "refreshment barrow," serving ginger beer, milk and snacks. It is believed that whisky was also available.
Mr. Anderson referred to this refreshment area as his "19th Hole". At the time, this was cutting edge and was a hit with golfers.

Golfers enjoying a refreshing moment. Pace of play had not yet been invented.
19th Hole Cart LLC is named after Mr. Anderson's inspired idea of offering refreshments on the course - the 19th Hole.
We think Mr. Anderson would be pleased to see that we have made some improvements to his original idea. While the carts have changed, the tradition of service and hospitality remains.
